More than 50 years after their family bought The Glen Hotel at Brisbane's Eight Mile Plains, Brian and Greg Fitzgibbons have begun construction on their 4.5 star accommodation wing at the multi-award winning Hotel.
"Our aim has always been to stay ahead of trends and invest back into our business. Accommodation is the next stage for us. It has always been my goal, since running around the corridors of my grandparents' Daniell Hotel in the City as a young boy, to have accommodation. We now feel the time is right." says Brian Fitzgibbons.
The Glen Hotel only 15 minutes from South Bank, is ideally situated, with on ramps for the M3 North to the City, the Gateway Motorway to the Airport and Sunshine Coast, the M3 South to the Gold Coast, and the South East Bypass to Ipswich, Toowoomba and Warwick within one kilometre of The Glen Hotel.
With close proximity to the Brisbane Technology Park, Garden City Office Park and Freeway Office Park and major sporting grounds, The Glen Hotel is aiming for its accommodation to be an alternative place to stay for corporates, essential service personnel and sporting groups without the worry of City traffic and parking hassles.
Forty-three luxury appointed hotel rooms and suites make up The Glen's accommodation, with a pool and gymnasium for guests to enjoy. There will be free parking, including bus-parking bays for larger groups.
Guests will be able to enjoy the Hotel's existing facilities at their doorstep, namely The Glen's full service Garden Grille Restaurant and Bar, The Deck Bistro & Bar and café for casual dining, as well as corporate boardrooms and full function facilities for up to 250 people.
Ryan Dillon, The Glen's Accommodation Manager, says completion of The Glen Hotel and Suites is set for mid-2014, well in time for the G20 Summit at South Bank.
James Forbes of Blueprint Architects heads the design team and Rohrig Constructions have been contracted to build the Hotel's latest addition.
"Glenn Rohrig and I have a great working relationship, and with the Rohrig team involved in many of our projects over the years, I know they deliver well-built projects on time." says Brian Fitzgibbons.
Local Feng Shui expert, Master Tom Lo, whom the Hotel have consulted prior to undertaking new projects, has again had input into the design and construction of The Glen Hotel and Suites.
Accommodation Manager Ryan Dillon adds, "Eight Mile Plains and its surrounding areas are expanding at a rapid rate, and its population made up of diverse backgrounds and demographics. We will ensure we cater for each groups' needs with our facilities, and we plan to exceed the expectations of all our guests. It is exciting times ahead for The Glen Hotel as it enters this new phase of expansion."
