The Gabori Sisters: Gathering By The Sea

When:  Up to 12 February 2017

Where: Queensland Gallery of Modern Art, South Bank

A great interactive, hands-on and free activity for the kids these Summer holidays is The Gabori Sisters: Gathering By The Sea at Queensland Gallery of Modern Art.

Presented by the Children's Art Centre at the gallery, this exciting interactive exhibition was developed in collaboration with Kaiadilt artists Elsie, Amanda and Dorothy Gabori, daughters of one of Australia's most loved contemporary artists Sally Gabori (Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda).

The exhibition takes children on a journey to the artists' homeland of Bentinck Island in Queensland's Gulf of Carpentaria. Through specially designed interactive hands-on making and multimedia activities, young visitors will be introduced to the unique and important relationship the Kaiadilt people share with the sea and the creatures who inhabit the waters around the Island.

Activities and exhibits include:

  • What's your Totem?
  • Let's Gather Close to The sea
  • Rock Wall Fish Trap
  • Underneath The Sea
  • Fish Are Moving All Around
  • Build Your Own Humpy

Don't miss this FREE activity for children over the Summer holidays.
